What We Do

Benefits Of Yoga

img

Strong Body Life

Yoga helps build strength, muscle tone, and endurance. Slow movements and deep breathing increases blood flow throughout the body, allowing every organ to function properly. Yoga also increases flexibility and mobility in the joints. With consistent practice, one can see improved respiration, energy, and vitality.

img

Stress Management

According to the National Institute of Health, scientific evidence shows that yoga supports stress management. It helps lower our fight or flight, freeze response by activating our parasympathetic nervous system, while decreasing levels of cortisol, a stress hormone in the body.

img

Enhanced Mental and Emotional Health

Regular Yoga practice creates mental clarity and calmness, increases emotional awareness. Yoga increases feel good chemicals like endorphins in the body that help decrease anxiety.

img

Boosts Immunity

Stress is one of the leading causes of illness. It reduces our immune system’s ability to fight off antigens, making us more susceptible to infections. Yoga helps reduce stress by bringing harmony between the body and the mind. When you contract and stretch muscles during Yoga, organs are being massaged and moved around, helping to increase the drainage of lymph (a viscous fluid rich in immune cells).

img

Better Sleep and Digestion

Yoga helps the body naturally release the sleep hormone, melatonin and prepares the body to rest. Deep breathing is a relaxation technique that can also induce sleep. Ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, and constipation can be exacerbated by stress. Yoga helps reduce stress by calming the nervous system, and therefore, can aid with better digestion.

img

Inner Strength

Yoga helps one get in touch with the highest aspect of his or her being. As one progresses in their Yoga practice, he/she will learn that yoga is physically challenging and the stronger one gets on the outside, the stronger one will feel on the inside. This will build immense self-confidence and awareness for transformation.

Saheli Yoga has the best yoga classes in town. I started yoga 2 years ago, and fortunately, I found a great teacher, Tina. I have learned that the poses I learned 2 years ago can still be challenging..
